Secretary of State Releases Year-End Voter Registration Numbers

Independent American Party sees biggest gain in December;
2009 total active voters down by nearly 100,000 over 2008
(Carson City, NV; January 4, 2010) – Secretary of State Ross Miller’s office today released the December voter registration numbers that show 2009 ended with a total of 1,140,068 active voters, an increase of only two active voters over the previous month. The Independent American Party saw an increase of 415 voters in December compared to the month before. The Democrats increased their statewide ranks by 24 voters in the month. The total number of active Republicans declined by 304 voters and there were 167 fewer Non-Partisans in December compared to the month before.
In CD 3, Democrats gained 176 voters and Republicans were down by 169.
The off-election year ended with 97,801 fewer active voters compared to the 1,237,869 active voters registered on December 31, 2008. In 2009, the ranks of active Democrats in the state declined by more than 50,000 voters and Republicans saw a decline of nearly 30,000 voters. There were more than 14,000 fewer Non-Partisans as of Dec. 31st.
