(Carson City, NV; October 15, 2010) – More than 1.1 million Nevadans were registered as active voters for the November 2 General Election as of the close of the registration period on October 12. Of the 1,119,576 active registrants statewide, 42% (470,919) are Democrats, 36.7% (410,811) are Republicans, 15.6% (175,094) are Non-Partisans, 4.4% (48,997) are members of the Independent American Party and the remaining 1.2% (13,755) are members of the Green, Libertarian, Natural Law, or other minor parties.
More than 55,000 people have registered since the close of registration for the primary election on June 4. The number of active registered voters at the close of registration for the 2010 General Election is down by more than 88,000 compared to the 2008 General Election close of registration figures.
Early voting in Nevada starts this Saturday, October 16 and runs through October 29. Early voting locations in all counties and the latest voter registration breakdown by county, party, age, and district can be found at www.nvsos.gov.
