(Carson City, NV; October 3, 2011) – Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller today filed an emergency petition with the Nevada Supreme Court requesting that the Court issue a writ of mandamus to the First Judicial District Court, Department 1 “directing that court to promptly decide certain questions of law that must be resolved prior to referring to the special masters the task of redistricting, or in the alternative, to exercise this Court’s original jurisdiction and decide those questions.”

A full copy of the writ is included as an attachment to this advisory, and is also available at www.nvsos.gov.

The Secretary of State’s office will have no further comment on the writ until the matter has been heard by the court.
