(Carson City, NV; Nov. 15, 2011) — As a board member of the Nevada Office of Economic Development, Secretary of State Ross Miller today announced the completion of Brookings Institution/SRI International analysis of Nevada’s current economy and recommendations for economic development strategies.
The full report titled “Unify, Regionalize, Diversify: An Economic Development Agenda for Nevada,” analyzes industry sectors and proposes realistic pursuits as the state moves forward with a new development model. The executive summary is also available.

Leaders from the Brookings Institution and SRI International presented the 176-page study to Governor Brian Sandoval, Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki and Secretary Miller yesterday in a public meeting. Funding for the Brookings/SRI study came from a securities settlement that the Secretary of State’s office spearheaded. The Interim Finance Committee and Board of Examiners approved to use the funds to contract with an outside firm.
