(Carson City, NV; December 30, 2011) — Secretary of State Ross Miller’s Elections Division today launched its enhanced online system for campaign and public official finance reporting. Effective January 1, 2012, all parties filing Contributions & Expense (C&E) Reports and Financial Disclosure Statements (FDS) are required to report the information electronically with the Secretary of State’s office, as mandated by Assembly Bill 452.
To access the fully operational system, visit https://nvsos.gov/SOSCandidateServices/Login.aspx. The link can also be found under the Elections Center portion of the Secretary of State’s homepage, www.nvsos.gov.
Electronic filing applies to all filers, regardless of where they filed their reports, statements or candidacy papers in the past. Exemptions will only be granted to filers who submit an affidavit declaring they do not own, have access, or have the financial ability to obtain access to the necessary technology. Candidates who receive or expend more than $10,000 are not eligible for the exemption. To obtain the affidavit form, contact the Elections Division at (775) 684-5705.
The deadline to file the 2011 Annual C&E Report and/or FDS is January 15, 2012. Please note that because January 15, 2012 falls on a Sunday, and the following day is a holiday, the filing deadline is extended through 11:59 p.m. on January 17, 2012.
Any questions regarding filing or the changes in Nevada’s reporting laws should be directed to the Elections Division at (775) 684-5705.
